We’re almost a quarter of the way through the contest season. Time is flying fast!
The ARRL Sweepstakes CW was last weekend and it quickly became the “chase for the NL mult!” To the best of my knowledge, I think that the NØAT multi-op was the only MWA station to grab NL and get the sweep. Congrats to Ron & Kirk!
As a club we had a slight improvement year-over-year. Our 2,545,572 points was a 2.26% improvement over 2024. I’m praying our accuracy was good and we’ll survive the log checking process! When the dust settled on the claimed scores, Team 4 grabbed the victory and the five points! Team 5 was close but had to settle for the second place finish, and four points. Here are the Team standings for SS CW:
- Team 4 – 690,990 Points – 5 Pts (9 active stations – 33% of the team)
- Team 5 – 642,828 Points – 4 Pts (11 active stations – 41% of the team)
- Team 3 – 556,188 Points – 3 Pts (9 active stations – 33% of the team)
- Team 2 – 374,232 Points – 2 Pts (9 active stations – 33% of the team)
- Team 1 – 281,334 Points – 1 Pt (7 active stations – 25% of the team)
- TOTAL MWA – 2,545,572 Points (45 active stations – 33% of our club)
SOAPBOX – Year-over-year improvement is a mix of two things – activity and butt-in-chair (BIC) time. We will never have much improvement with only a third of our club getting on the air! You’ll see in the Team Competition that the most active team leads the competition. Do you want your team to move up the standings? Get people on the air…….and ask them to stay on the air for a bit! Soapbox off!
In the full year Team Competition, the teams are starting to separate a bit. There are so many contests left that the championship is still up for grabs. All it takes is activity!

- Team 4 – 15 Points (Average activity per contest – 10 Ops)
- Team 3 – 12 Points (Average activity per contest – 10.5 Ops)
- Team 2 – 9 Points (Average activity per contest – 10 Ops)
- Team 1 – 6 Points (Average activity per contest – 10.25 Ops)
