With all the contests, it’s hard to get all the scores reported, tabulated and published. Thanks to everyone for reporting their scores so quickly!
Three contests in three weeks! Sweepstakes Phone, CQWW CW and then the all-nighters of ARRL 160. We’ve been hitting the airwaves hard and having a lot of fun!
For the ARRL 160 Meter Contest, we had put out the call for stations. We said it would be easy to work stations with only a bit of wire. A few people gave it a try! Roger, KØMPH, loaded up his deck vertical and made QSO’s. Someone (sorry, I forgot who you were) loaded up 125 feet of wire and made a bunch of Q’s. Jim, WØPMO, loaded up a hog fence and made it work!
Conditions were a mixed bag but some of the larger stations worked a bit of DX! Smaller stations had some nice runs and very good QSO counts! We should have MWA stations in all the Top Ten boxes! How’d we do? MWA ended up with 1,895,117 points, down about 27% from last year. With conditions as they were, we did pretty darn good!
The top three teams this week were separated by not much. One more station on Team 5 or Team 3 could’ve changed the standings. Every station counts!!! Here are the weekly results:
- Team 4 – 548,785 Points (5 Pts)
- Team 5 – 512,192 Points (4 Pts)
- Team 3 – 501,636 Points (3 Pts)
- Team 2 – 170,170 Points (2 Pts)
- Team 1 – 162,334 Points (1 Pt)
Team 5 has been leading all year. Well, Team 4 has picked up two points in two weeks to tie things up at the top. Congrats to Team 4 for a nice win this week! Team 5 turned out more stations but Team 4 kept their butts in the chair longer! Here are the team results:

This weekend is the ARRL 10 Meter Contest. We wait all solar cycle for this chance. We dream of the big openings to all over the globe, the long runs to Europe and the stateside sporadic E openings. This week will have it all…..plus a LOT of local MWA activity!!
